Our Work Environment

For the past three summers, CyberNatural field teams have made their way north in a quest for arctic organisms. It's these field trips which allowed us to assemble the images of polar life and environments that were the raw materials for the various elements of this project. With a mission to document life, these trips were frenzied affairs. Our divers ventured into frigid Arctic waters to document life under the waves. Digital video cameras captured pulsing jellyfish, hovering squids and wandering sea stars to name just a few. Our divers were sometimes deployed by helicopter, but Zodiacs were more often used.

We also relied on aircraft to get us to remote locales where we could gather images of terrestrial life such as polar bears and muskoxen. We didn't just aim to document large life. In fact, we devoted much of our effort towards gathering micrographic images of tiny life.
